The 2006 Work Program

The ABAC theme for 2006 is "Driving Forward a Prosperous and Harmonized APEC Community”. Four sub-themes have been identified under this main theme, to wit:

Advancing the Busan Roadmap to achieve the Bogor Goals
Building prosperity together by strengthening economic, financial and technical cooperation for shared development
Fostering a secure and favorable environment for trade and investment and financial flows
Promoting APEC linkage

The 2006 work program continues to advance the APEC agenda on trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, bolsters efforts on capacity building and strengthening financial systems in the region and renews the focus on technology-related issues. Key priorities in the 2006 work program include: the WTO Doha Development Agenda negotiations; investment liberalization and facilitation; technology transfer; the development of small and medium enterprises; strengthening financial systems and investment flows; anti-corruption; avian and pandemic influenza preparedness and response; public-private sector cooperation; and the reform of APEC.

Detailed recommendations will be developed during the course of the year for all priority issues identified in the 2006 work program for submission to relevant sectoral ministerial meetings and to the APEC Economic Leaders during the annual dialogue.
