This help page has 2 sections:

  1. Navigating ABAC Online
  2. Viewing PDF documents

Navigating ABAC Online

The ABAC Online website has two navigational areas:

  1. The Menu icons
  2. The Menu panel
  3. The Right Side Menu

The following section describes how to use these menus.

The Menu Icons

The Menu icons are found in the top banner under the member login. They allow fast access to some of the special features of ABAC Online.

This menu is part of the "frame" that appears on every page you visit in the ABAC Online website. It allows you to quickly find information from several different ABAC categories no matter where you are in the website.

The Menu Panel

All of the important ABAC information and reports can be found using this menu.

The Menu panel is also part of the website "frame" that appears on every page you visit in the ABAC Online website.

It allows you to quickly find information from several different ABAC categories no matter where you are in the website.

Clicking on one of these links will display the main menu for that section.  For example, clicking the 'About ABAC' link opens up a menu page from which you access documents about ABAC.

The Right Side Menu

The ABAC Online website is hierarchically structured.  The opening page is the top level and all subsequent document levels depend on how many mouse clicks it takes to get there.

For example, from the top level, one click takes you to a "level 1" document.  The next click takes you either back up to the top level or down to a "level 2" document.

The majority of documents and pages in the ABAC Online website have a Right Side Menu.  This enables you to navigate through the levels with ease. These menus are made up of buttons that access:

  • the previous level (up).
  • the next level down.

The 'next level down' will usually have several different documents or topics.

Hence, there will always only be one 'up' button, but quite possibly many 'next level down' buttons.

Use these Right Side Menu buttons to navigate through the core documents and information in the ABAC Online website.

Viewing PDF Documents

Some documents in the ABAC Online website use the Portable Document Format (PDF).  The following section provides some basic information that enables you to view the PDFs used in this website.

NOTE: A more comprehensive help source is the "Help" menu of the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Step 1.

To view PDF documents you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC.  If you don't have it, you can download it by following the link below.

Step 2.

Once you have Acrobat Reader installed, the PDF page will load embedded in the ABAC Online website.

Internet Explorer users will be able to view and navigate the page on the screen.

Netscape users will see an image representation of the first page of the PDF document.

It is recommended that both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator users click on the "View PDF in full window" link to provide the maximum viewing area for the PDF document.

Step 3.

The simplest way to move around the PDF document is to use your mouse, as follows:

  1. Select the hand tool from the Acrobat toolbar across the top of the PDF document you are viewing.  The hand tool is located about a third of the way across from the left side of the screen.
  2. Once selected, right click (or equivalent) on the document and select 'continuous' from the pop-up menu.
  3. Move the cursor over the document again and a hand icon should replace the usual mouse arrow.  Click and hold down the left mouse button to drag the document in any direction.

Step 4.

The other essential tool you will need to use is the magnification tool.  This is located on the toolbar about a third of the way across from the left of screen (next to the hand tool).  It is represented by a magnifying glass icon. To use this tool, do the following:

  1. Zoom in - when the cursor is showing a magnifying glass with a "+" sign in it click on the document to zoom in.
  2. Zoom out - hold down the ctrl key (option key for Mac users) and the spacebar together. The "+" sign in the magnifying glass will become a "-" sign.  Clicking on the document now will zoom out.
  3. An alternative way to zoom in and out is to right click over the document with the magnification tool selected.  This will show a pop up menu with several different magnification options.  Click on your preferred magnification.
